Google launched the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro on October 4, 2023. Now it is time for the Google Pixel 8A. “A” series smartphones from Google refers to a down-grade version of the base variant. The Pixel 8A is no alternative.
The popular leaker @Onleaks, partnered with @Smartprix, has rendered Pixel 8A. On the render, @Onleaks has shared the possible key specifications of the Pixel 8A with a full body image.
Pixel 8A: Display and Design
As seen in the rendered image, Pixel 8A will have more rounded corners and a bit more bezel on the bottom. It will have a 6.2-inch AMOLED flat display on the front compared to 6.1-inch on the Pixel 7A. A 2.5D curved glass will cover the display. The phone’s dimensions will remain the same measuring 152.1 x 72.6 x 8.9 mm.
Pixel 8A: Processor
In terms of chipset, Google will probably go for an underclocked version of the Tensor G3. Tensor G3 is a very good chipset for a mid-range phone like the Pixel 8A. It has a lot of AI functionalities and features. But Tensor G3 has already been criticized a lot for not being as performance-focused as Qualcomm or MediaTek-powered smartphones. Here is the thing, Google does not make performance-focused phones. Rather Google focuses on software features and optimization. So judging a Pixel phone based on a benchmark score is not right at all. However, based on the leaked information, it is expected that the Pixel 8A will launch with Mali-G715 GPU instead of Mali-G710 of the Pixel 7A.
Pixel 8A: Storage options
It will have only 8 GB RAM and 128/256 GB storage options. It will run on Android 14 out of the box. Pixel 8A will come with a dual rear camera setup and a single selfie shooter.
Pixel 8A: Camera
The specifications of the camera hardware have not been published yet. But it is hoped that there will be no change in the camera department. It may use the same 64 MP f/1.9 main camera hardware as the Pixel 7A.
Pixel 8A: Features
Some other specifications and rumors include a massive 5000 mAh battery, stereo speakers, and USB Type-C port availability. It may also include all the AI features we have seen in the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro.
Pixel 8A: Price
Pixel ‘A’ series is the most affordable option if you want to experience Android with all the software and AI features. The first Pixel 3A launched at $329. From then the prices of the ‘A’ series have increased gradually. The Pixel 7A launched at $499.This time, it is expected that it will have the same pricing as the Pixel 7a which is $499. Although it is now only the speculation of the experts and leaked information. But if it really happens, it will surely grab the attention of the customers very well.
Pixel 8A: Release Date
Google launches the ‘A’ series phone in the month of May usually. The Pixel 7A and 6A also launched in May. So this time, it is expected that Google will keep the launch time the same as previously. But the launch date may differ. According to @Onleaks, Google will launch the Pixel 8A on May 24. But it is also just speculation. We will publish updates once we get any credible information regarding the Pixel 8A.
