Red Magic has launched the Red Magic 9 Pro series in China on 23 November 2023. It is a gaming smartphone with top-of-the-line hardware specifications and major design changes compared to its predecessor, the Red Magic 8S Pro. The series has two models including the Red Magic 9 Pro and the Red Magic 9 Pro Plus.

Red Magic 9 Pro Design and Display
Red Magic 9 Pro has a unique flat body in both front and back. The camera module on the back is embedded into the frame. The selfie camera is also hidden under the display. The protection glass used in the device is unspecified.
Red Magic 9 Pro comes with a 6.8-inch full-screen AMOLED display with 2480 x 1116 pixels resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. It has a spectacular 93.7% screen-to-body ratio and ultra-high frequency 2160 Hz PWM dimming. The display also includes a 960 Hz multi-finger touch sampling rate and up to 1600 nits peak brightness. The display is provided by BOE and with its Q9+ luminescent material, the under-display selfie camera remains hidden without interruption.
Red Magic 9 Pro Chipset and Memory
The Red Magic 9 Pro is equipped with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. It is coupled with 8 GB / 12 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB / 512 GB UFS 4.0 storage. Red Magic has claimed to reduce the heat by up to 25°C by implementing a 10,182 mm2 vapor chamber, a dedicated cooling fan, a waterfall air duct, and CUBE energy engine, a graphene layer, etc. The phone is also equipped with the Red Core R2 Pro which is designed to improve gaming features like better haptic feedback, better audio and touch-sampling rate, etc.
Red Magic 9 Pro Camera
The gaming machine Red Magic 9 Pro comes with a 50 MP Samsung GN5 sensor with OIS support. A 50 MP JN1 sensor is also available there as the ultrawide camera.
Red Magic 9 Pro Gaming Features
As a gaming phone, the Red Magic 9 Pro comes with some in-built and exclusive gaming features that boost the overall gaming experience. Like the Red Magic 9 Pro runs on Android 14 based REDMAGIC OS 9.0 with an additional X Gravity 2.0 software feature. This software enables seamless mapping of external controllers, keyboards, and mouses. It has also Red Magic’s own gaming chip, the Red Core R2 Pro.
The uninterrupted full-screen display also helps for a great visual during the game. The display is also HDR10+ and DCI P3 color gamut supported. Overall the display is almost perfect display for gaming
The dedicated 520 Hz touch shoulder buttons, Magic Sound dual stereo speakers, triple microphone setup, 3.5 mm headphone jack, Wi-Fi 7, IR blaster, and NFC make it more convenient to play games in any situation.
It packs an industry-leading 6500 mAh battery inside the device. The 9 Pro supports up to 80W (PD 3.0 technology) fast charging that takes almost 35 mins to fully recharge the phone (As advertised). It has USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 2 support.
Red Magic 9 Pro Price and Availability
Red Magic 9 Pro is currently on pre-order in China. It will be available on JD.com soon. It will be globally launched on 18 December 2023. The base 8GB/256GB variant starts at 4,399 CNY while the top 12GB/512GB variant is priced at 5,199 CNY
